I'd really appreciate some help with this one. I thought this was a fairly simple question, but it seems to have produced a lot of confusion on HN. Hopefully someone can help.So my question is - when it comes to microSD cards, what do you do to keep them clean? As I've been reading a lot online, people are saying that cleaning microSD cards with a cotton swab is a very bad idea. Some say it will scratch them. Others say it will just make your microSD card dirty and don't try it. Others say you should keep your microSD card inside a plastic protective plastic case and not use any other material.I bought a 128GB microSD card off Amazon for $18. I raced to make sure it was working before I left the house. Upon returning, I cracked it open to see if it was working, only to see that there was some excess dust and dirt sitting on it. I thought that at least I could clean it with a cotton swab, but when I got home, I found out it was a really bad idea. People were saying that even if the dirt was on the microSD card, it would scratch it. And if I wiped off the dirt, I'd make another dust ball.I took one of my microSD cards from my camera, and put another brand microSD card up against it. It felt the same - just a little bit cleaner when I open it.Some people have been recommending certain brands of microSD cards over others. But then I find another article on HN telling me that certain brands of microSD cards are inherently better than others. It seems there are just as many opinions on microSD cards as there are on China-made pens. d2c66b5586
