Had the film been made with the knowledge of the audience in mind, the editing would have been more fluid, and the film would have been a lot more meaningful. The film could've been much more entertaining, because it could have evolved into a horror film, but instead it remains grounded, and fails to move the needle.
The film is sprinkled with the daintiest of scenes, like a meeting between the parents of a blind girl and her blind friend, and a father and son's evening reading of a poem. Such moments of intimacy link Ayan to his audience, and make his film a must-watch for everybody.
Ayan is a refreshing take on the Hindi romantic drama. The film is all about the triumph of love. It is a tale of romance, loyalty and bravery. It is the story of a father and a son. The movie is quirky but it is extremely likeable and the characters are well-drawn.
