Francisco Amarilla had a very interesting career as a guitarist and teacher. His music was mainly influenced by the Spanish painters such as Lorenzo Lotto and Bernadino Cortes, and his life was spent in Spain and Toledo. Amarilla was very famous for his pieces of virtuoso-interpretation and technique. He composed for two Guitarras, as well as the guitar. Amarilla is considered one of the finest Spanish guitarists of all time. His short life (1854-1890) was spent mostly in Europe, and he won the recognition from his contemporaries and the respect of most modern players, especially teachers. Amarilla also had a short career as a teacher. He met an untimely death at the young age of 44. His music is not very specific, although it has an unknown author. His works can be identified according to their chronological order and manner of musical expression. The recorded works are variable in quantity and quality - some are of high quality, others are of a certain value.
