There are, however, more significant visual enhancements in addition to the quality of textures. The game has a much more diverse array of terrain textures, for instance, which offer more of a visual spark to areas with specific environmental elements. Effects such as trees, bushes and rocks are all rendered more efficiently than in the original release. In addition, the snow won't load over your head the way it would on Xbox One. However, the team is most likely aware of this and we have repeatedly asked them to fix it. The game looks much more appealing as a result. It's a constant struggle to capture interactions without some of the flaws we mention above, even when some games try to emulate Naughty Dog's Uncharted series in terms of presentation, but For Honor has done a good job with this. The more we play, the more we like it and this seems to be a trend with most of the titles we've played.

There's a lack of polish in several areas of For Honor and these are things that will no doubt be fixed over time. Performance is another area that For Honor has made some progress in since the original game launched via Steamworks. The PC version of the game deals with larger maps with more troops on the battlefield and the amount of work needed to scale those arrays is more taxing than we care to admit. Stressing out the engine to the point that it eats up resources and pauses the game just seems unnecessary and it shows. We appreciate that all games show some level of development effort, but For Honor is especially obvious as it starts to engage in intensive combat scenes. The best way to stress out an engine is to make smart use of the space it provides and play around with depth for as much as possible. Odd layouts and overly complex structures can be a culprit in this area too, which has resulted in some disorientation in maps that are later found to be less playable.
