As a result of Casper being too friendly with a boy named Jimmy Bradley and failing to scare enough humans Kibosh: The King of the Underworld has Casper enrolled into a Scare School, to prevent him from being banished into the Valley of the Shadows, headed by the two-headed headmaster Alder and Dash. At Scare School he befriends Ra, a mummy with unraveling issues and Mantha, a zombie girl who keeps falling apart, as well as Cappy, a pirate who takes them to the school, and his parrot Beaky.
There they learn to keep the Balance between scaring \"fleshies\" too often or too little both of which, the staff believe, would cause them to rise up and dominate the creatures of the Underworld. His first three lessons result in Casper being given detention from the teachers. The school bully, a vampire, named Thatch and his cronies spy on Casper in an attempt to sabotage him.
Casper feels unable to cope with having to be scary so he decides to go to the Valley of the Shadows by himself believing the Balance would have to go without him. Upon his arrival Casper finds the Valley to be a colorful garden and he meets his great-aunt Spitzy, who the Ghostly Trio claimed were not allowed to talk about, and the other creatures who were banished there for refusing to scare humans.
Parents need to know that this enjoyable animated series (based on the movie of the same name) features an appealing cast of kid-friendly versions of traditionally creepy creatures like ghosts, vampires, and zombies -- with very little of the scary content that usually accompanies them. Casper is friendly to everyone, and his kindness always triumphs over the troublesome intentions of his nemesis, the school bully. The students often get involved in mild mischief (like starting food fights or concocting stink potions), but their transgressions always demonstrate a lesson in respect or consideration for others.
In CASPER'S SCARE SCHOOL, Casper the Friendly Ghost is ensconced at boarding school, trying to master the art of scaring \"fleshies\" before his kindly nature gets him banished. Though he's surrounded by scary creatures of all shapes and sizes -- including werewolves, skeletons, swamp creatures, and vampires -- Casper finds it hard to deny his gentle side, which often lands him in hot water with the school's headmasters, Alder and Dash, and with his bullying nemesis, Thatch. Fortunately Casper can rely on his close friends, Mantha and Ra, to back him up when the going gets tough.
Parents need to know that this entertaining animated TV movie contains some mildly scary scenes including a scene in which ghosts chase screaming human children and turn them into stone. Ghosts also play tricks on humans and make mischief by breaking things and creating general -- but brief -- mayhem. Casper breaks some rules and lies to his school headmaster, but his overwhelming innocence compensates for any wrongdoing. Two minor characters are stereotypical dumb cheerleaders, and two characters are referred to as fat.
In CASPER'S SCARE SCHOOL, the loveable ghost-child gets sent off to boarding school when he's caught being friendly to \"fleshies.\" Though he makes a half-hearted attempt to bone up his scary quotient, Casper just can't deny his true friendly nature. Meanwhile, he uncovers a plot to terrorize humans, and, with the help of his friends -- a zombie girl and mummy boy -- restores order and learns to accept himself.
As a role model, Casper (voiced by Devon Werkheiser) excels. He's habitually polite, friendly, and helpful. He seems more self-assured here than in previous tales -- perhaps because he finally has a \"fleshie\" friend. Before he's sent off to Scare School, Casper makes a promise to attend the friend's soccer games. He has to sneak out of school to keep his promise, proving that loyalty to his friend is paramount. Once he's at school, Casper finds himself at odds with a snitchy vampire student who tries everything to get the friendly ghost in trouble. Despite being harassed, Casper doesn't lower himself to meanness. He stays true to his nice roots and still comes out ahead in the end.
Casper and his universe have received a facelift since his earlier print and small-screen days. The animation is sharp, bright, and altogether modern-looking -- something kids raised on Finding Nemo and Toy Story will enjoy. Several mildly scary moments may upset more sensitive children. In one scene, the leader of the underworld, a grumpy green ghost named Kibosh (Kevin Michael Richardson) gets angry with Casper and grows larger and darker while his eyes glow red and his voice deepens. But scary moments are brief and usually followed by a funny scene, which helps relieve any tension. Some parents may take exception to a couple of the movie's stereotypes. First, Casper's uncle, Fatso (Billy West), gorges himself constantly on sweets and anything else he can get his hands on. Parents may need to explain that not all large people are binge eaters, and that you wouldn't normally call people \"fatso.\" Second, at Casper's school he meets twin skeleton cheerleaders who are dull-witted and overly concerned with their appearance. This stereotype will go over most kids' head, but it's worth bringing up to older children.
For being friendly most of the time in his afterlife, Casper is force to be in rolled for Scare School by Kibosh. The school was head by the two-headed, Alder and Dash, who secretly plans to over throw Kibosh. Casper then met up with new friends: Ra and Mantha and has a rivalry with Thatch.
The series features a fairly extensive number of characters, but with a small voice cast (especially in Season 2). Most of the characters are underworld creatures that work and study at the Scare School, each with a distinct design, while a smaller part consists of humans who reside in Deedstown, the city chosen by the Scare School to scare humans.
Harpy is a mythological creature who studies at Scare School. She is the strangest and clumsiest student in the school and usually only communicates with others through clucking. She was once one of the friendly creatures that were banished to the Valley of the Shadows. She is also often seen messing around with Thatch's gang.
She also showed herself to be very kind, as in \"My Fair Harpy\", where she easily accepted Ra's request for her to go with him to the dance, even after being warned by Mantha about his behavior, just as she easily accepted his apology for hurting her feelings before. In the same episode, Harpy surprised everyone at school with her new dance moves, along with Ra.
Their biggest interaction was in \"My Fair Harpy\", where Ra was looking for \"the right girl\" to go with him to the school dance and be his queen. Ra is at first confident that Harpy is a good choice after she accepts his request, but ends up disappointed when he starts rehearsing the dance steps with her, seeing that she doesn't have any dancing talents.
After Harpy finally learns to dance from Mantha's teachings, she overhears Ra's making negative comments about her to Casper, making her very sad.; Ra regrets what he said when he sees her crying outside the dorm and then goes to the school dance to apologize and just have fun with her, however, Harpy surprises Ra and the rest of the school with her new dance moves, with the two winning a dance competition against Thatch, as well as an award for the best dancers.
Harpy's relationship with Casper is not as explored, however among their few interactions one can mention the moment he unintentionally scared her in \"Accidental Hero\" when the whole school was scared of him, other than that, the two seem get along with each other, as Casper tries to help her improve her dance moves and convince Ra that he could get along with her in \"My Fair Harpy\".
Harpy and Mantha seem to be good friends, which was shown in \"My Fair Harpy\" when she tries her best to teach Harpy to dance and prepare her for school dance, however, their relationship only was addressed only once.
Casper the Friendly Ghost is the protagonist of the Famous Studios theatrical animated cartoon series of the same name who also starred in many comics, a cartoon series and several films.Casper is a good ghost, who, much to the chagrin of his uncles, prefers to help people, rather than scare them.
Scare school r001z d00d. Easily better than of the CGI Casper movies including the '95 theatrical version. Brilliant way to use the Casper IP imo. Lots of really fun creature designs though I'm not crazy about the art style. The human characters in particular look terrible. I wasn't crazy about the designs for Kaibash and the Ghostly Trio but they grew on me as I watched this. I've seen a bit of the show too which was pretty solid though not as good as this movie. Also this movie and the show are surprisingly political. You might not notice it at a cursory glance but this is some radical anti fascist material right here. Very cool. >:) 6/10
Both versions is based on the computer animated series Casper's Scare School. The plot involves Casper the Friendly Ghost, having been sent to \"Scare School\" by his three uncles, must thwart the school bully Thatch the Vampire's plan to turn all the characters to stone.
The look of this app is bright and colorful in general, and there are some nice elements that engage, keeping these games suspenseful and players motivated without being too intense a memory game. I enjoy a cartoony purple swirl used to draw the player into these quizzes in a fun, hypnotic way, reminiscent of an image used during one season's opening credits of the Twilight Zone, as well as Casper counting up from one to ten, prompting the player to focus his attention on these costume details. Although a certain amount of time is given to answer these questions, it is nice that if time runs out or three wrong answers are chosen, the player is simply given a second chance to study the costume in question, making the level of difficulty appropriate for those preschool age and up. 59ce067264
